ConductorA. Daniel Skepple, Jr. –Director of Music Born in St. John’s, Antigua, Daniel Skepple, Jr. grew up in Kingston, Ontario where his parents were educators at Queen’s University and St. Lawrence College. Growing up in Kingston Daniel attended The Kingston Citadel Corps of the Salvation Army where he developed his love and passion for music and cornet under the influence of Kenneth R. Moore, former Director of Music of the Canadian Forces Vimy Band and the RCMP Band. Daniel also came under the influence of legendary Salvation Army Bandmaster, Jack Green of Belleville, Ontario and Albert Probert of the Vimy Band during his high school years. Daniel is a 1983 graduate of the University of Ottawa with a degree in English with a minor in music performance. Daniel studied with Robert Oades and Eric Rupp while at the University Ottawa. Daniel is also a proud alumni of the Ceremonial Guard Band. After graduation Daniel enrolled in the Canadian military as a musician, first posted to the School of Music in Victoria and eventually to his home town band the Vimy Band where he was a featured soloist and Compere with the band for 10 years. Daniel has played with numerous Salvation Army bands, community brass and concert bands and orchestra’s in Canada and was also the Divisional Director of Music for the Salvation Army in Cleveland, Ohio where he lead the NEOSA Youth Band. Shortly after moving to Edmonton in 2000 Daniel became a member of Millcreek Colliery Band for two years and returned to the band in 2006 for a second tour. Daniel plays on a Sterling Virtuoso Cornet. Daniel and Dr. Gordon Russell founded Mission Hill Brass in 2005 and currently Daniel is serving as its Director of Music. Daniel is also a member of the Edmonton Temple Band of the Salvation Army along with Millcreek Colliery Band. Daniel is also completing his MBA in technology management graduating in 2009. Daniel is married to the former Dorothy Leech of Victoria, BC and they have four children - Anthony 21, Jacob 17, Malcolm 16 and Danielle 12, all musicians playing in Mission Hill Brass. Daniel is the Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball team at The King’s University College and works in the athletic department as the Assistant Athletic Director. Daniel has been coaching high school and university basketball for 22 years. Daniel is the CEO of ADSjr Capital Group, Inc. |
